Commissioned Shoots

Almost everyone arrives nervous.
And by the end, they leave having seen a face of their own they've never seen before.

There are three main kinds of shoots.
If you're not sure which fits, just ask us.

  1. PORTRAIT Personal portrait shoots A shoot to leave a photograph for yourself. Two or three hours, including hair, makeup and styling. The three-hour course can also be done on location outdoors.
  2. BRAND & AD Brand & advertising shoots Corporate advertising, media and brand shoots are quoted individually. Let us know the purpose and your preferred timing.
  3. WORKSHOP Photo sessions with seminars & retreats Small-group gatherings combining a seminar on expression with a shoot. Upcoming dates are posted in News / Events.

For photo sessions

Before the shoot
You'll talk with Jo Moriyama himself on Zoom (about one hour).
On the day
Six hours on the day.
Delivery
You choose 6 images, delivered within 6 days.

For individual shoots (commissions)

  1. 01

    After booking, a one-hour Zoom consultation. Together we decide the direction, outfits and the finish you want, and make your goal visible.

    Because I had an online counseling session beforehand, I got to know Jo as a person before the shoot, and that gave me a sense of security.
  2. 02

    We arrange the studio or location and hair & makeup. Please come with your usual makeup.

    The makeup wasn't heavily layered, yet the subtle shading gave such a soft finish — it was like magic.
  3. 03

    Your photo session with Jo Moriyama.

    I want others to experience how Jo makes you smile without ever saying “smile!”
  4. 04

    About a week after the shoot, we send the photos as a PDF.

    When the photo files arrived, I looked at them practically every day, thinking about which to choose. I looked at them again and again.
  5. 05

    We choose the images to be delivered together on Zoom.

  6. 06

    Two to three weeks after your selection, we deliver the retouched images.

    Looking at the photos of myself, I could tell myself from the heart, “You've worked so hard all this time.”
On the Day
Location
Decided in our consultation beforehand.
On the Day
After you arrive, we prepare hair, makeup and styling, then begin the shoot.
Hair & makeup
Hair, makeup and styling on the day are included in the price. We arrange them for you.
Outfits
Please bring your own.
Outfit advice
In our online session before the shoot, we'll ask about your outfits and the mood you'd like to capture.
Duration
About six hours in total.
What to bring
We'll let you know in our consultation beforehand.
Companions
Some clients have been photographed together with family or children. Each companion is ¥25,000 (tax incl.).
Delivery
Images for selection
About a week after the shoot, we send the photos as a PDF.
Number of images
You choose 6 images.
Until delivery
Two to three weeks after your selection, we deliver the retouched images.
Finished prints
One print for the 2-hour course, three for the 3-hour course.
Format and storage
Delivered as JPEG. We keep the data for 30 days after delivery.

Additional costs
For distant or location shoots, travel and accommodation, location fees and outfit rental may be charged separately. We'll give you a quote for all of these before you book.

FAQ
I don't like having my photo taken
That's true of most people who come. Before the shoot we take time to talk online, and hear why you dislike it and what mood you'd like, before the day itself. The more you dislike being photographed, the more I recommend having Jo photograph you
I have no idea how to pose or what expression to make
You don't need to decide anything. I'll guide you as we go. Without knowing how to pose or what expression to make, I simply went along with his suggestions, and gradually my body and feelings relaxed until I could savor the moment
What should I wear?
In our online session before the shoot, we'll ask about your outfits and the mood you'd like to capture, and suggest outfits and hair & makeup there too.
Can I be photographed with my children or family?
Yes, some clients have been. Each companion is ¥25,000 (tax incl.). He said I could bring my daughters, and it was great that they helped out too
How far in advance can I book?
We accept bookings up to a year ahead. We may pause bookings while traveling outside Japan.
Can I cancel or change the date?
Yes. Deadlines and fees are described in our Cancellation Policy.
